The Over-30 league’s undisputed premier sniper and one of its consistent league leaders in goals scored every year; Joe Shannon is without a question the most feared shooter in the Over-30 league.  From his patented lethal slap shot that has goalies quaking in their pads, to his quick release snap shot that can find an opening in the back of the net where none existed before, Joe has a knack for scoring the big goals for his teams and like any skilled player wants the ball on his stick when a goal needs to be scored.

Known for his expertise in positioning himself to get open and unleash his devastating shot, Joe can also move back to defense and utilize his ball control skills with quarterback expertise to control his defensive zone and find the open player to generate a scoring chance.

Playing in his 27th season, Joe is second overall in the career scoring list and making a serious run at passing the competition to become number 1 before his playing days are over.  Making up one third of the “Holy Trinity” line of Shannon-Iannello-Nickerson of the Over-30 league, Joe brings a feared combination of goal scoring, consistent accuracy of getting the ball on net (usually in the back of the net) and skilled leadership to any team he plays for.

Rumors & Facts:

  • Can usually be heard telling anyone who will listen that he runs the Over-30 league.
  • If you ask Joe who he is, he will usually tell you “he’s Joe Shannon, damn it.”
  • Joe Shannon is nothing without Matty Iannello and Ray Nickerson.
  • Matty Iannello and Ray Nickerson are nothing without Joe Shannon.
  • His favorite house paint color is red because it matches the goal lamp.
  • Wants to go out on his own, but Ray Nickerson will have non of that.
  • Subscribes to the expression… “Keep you friends close, and your enemies closer, and the points leader… closest.”
  • Joe has one of the hardest slapshot in the league… ever!
  • Wants to be #1 so bad that in 2010 he took (Doctor prescribed) steroids for “his rash.”
