| Director's comments - what you missed |
Blizzard Brigade loses their first game, then runs the table winning their last 4 games to leave no doubt who the best team was, defeating the surprise opponent in the Finals Blue Moon by a score of 2 - 0. Strategic draft selection by captain Dominic Defrancisco (having the 2st overall pick) was brilliant due to his blending of a player's versatility and speed. It also helps when the 3 defensemen you pick (all non-top names) rise to the occassion and as a group are THE BEST core defensive group all Jamboree. Last but certainly not least was the play of goalie Scott Rosato in net, who completed his "payback tour" in his return to the Jamboree (take notice all captains!), only giving up 3 goals in 5 games played, posting a 0.60 GAA, while also adding 3 shutouts. Well done Scott, and message delivered!
Other highlights of the Jamboree included the following:
- Pitmaster Dave Giusti barbequeing and serving up brisket and Texas ribs while also serving pasta salad, pulled pork salad, potato salad and some killer cornbread that was the talk around the serving table for all the players.
- Tim Burke's generous Tito's sponsorship of "etched" glass1 liter bottles to the Players of the Game winners. All 4 individual award winners also took home a glass award.
- Congratulations Dominic Defrancisco - MVP.
- Congratulations Seth Ford - MVD.
- Congratulations Scott Rosato - MVG
- Congratulations Mark Stickney - Director's Choice award
- Congratulations to the two raffle winners. Mark Stickney winning the alcohol / Cigar / Shaving needs gift basket (thank you Tony Medeiros), while Pedro Fontes won the Over-30 league FREE league registration.
- Hats off to the players as your generous donations to the raffles that will be added to the Giveback to the Players fund. Great job guys
- Seth Ford winning the Jamboree's MVD award for his overall play and production for the entire Jamboree was an unexpected surprise that stood out. Great time Seth to have your "stepping out moment" and elevating your game........you just made my job that more difficult as to where to draft you.
Last but certainly not least, thank you to all the behind the scenes individuals for your time and efforts helping put this Jamboree together, as well as helping out during the Jamboree. Thank you Kellie, Tony Medeiros, Naz, Jim Barber, Dave Giusti, and John Hardy.

The 2026 Players Jamboree Round-Robin Standings
POINT SCORING SYSTEM
A) 10 POINTS FOR A WIN
B) 5 POINTS FOR A TIE
C) 0 POINTS FOR A LOSS
D) GOAL DIFFERENTIAL (TEAM WINS 4-2 GET 2 EXTRA POINTS)
|
The Players Jamboree 2026 playing format and rules
- Each team will consist of a total of 8 players (4 forwards, 3 defensemen, 1 goalie)
- Captains must choose 3 defensemen from the designated Defensemen draft list.
- The two defensemen captains only have to choose 2 defensemen from the designated Defensemen draft list (if no designated defenseman are left on the list, captains will have to choose one or two forwards and designate them as defensemen)
- Jamboree playing format will be 4-on-4.
- Each team is guaranteed 3 round-robin games.
- All 6 teams after the Saturday qualifying games will move on to the playoff rounds on Sunday.
- Each game will consist of one 20-minute (running-time) period with the last 1 minute consisting of stop time.
- All Over-30 league rules will be in effect. Only exception is the entire perimeter netting around the rink is in play; if the ball is shot into the netting, no delay of game penalty will be called.
- All penalties will result in penalty shots. The opposing player directly impacted by the penalty call shall be designated to take the penalty. If the penalty results in a “non-direct” infraction on another player (delay of game, unsportsmanlike conduct, misconduct, etc.), the opposing team captain can designate any player on the rink to take the penalty shot.
- All penalty shots shall result in stop time. If no goal is scored, the resulting faceoff will take place deep in the penalized team’s defensive zone. The clock will again run once the faceoff takes place.
- If the same player receives 3 penalties in the same game, said player will be removed from the game.
|
- If teams both receive matching penalties, each team will play 3-on-3 for a minute and a half. Said penalized players will serve this time in their respective penalty box.
- All round robin games that end in ties after 20 minutes shall remain a tie. No overtime will be played.
- Team standings will be determined by the following:
- Wins = 10 points
- Ties = 5 points
- Loss = 0 points
- Goal Differential (Team wins 4-2; add 2 points to their total)
- Team tied in the standings will be determined by the following tie breakers:
- Most points
- Most wins
- Fewest losses
- Head-to-head records
- Fewest goals against total
- Most goals scored total
- Head-to-head fewest goals against
- Head-to-head goals scored
- Playoff games will feature the following playing format:
- 1st place team receives a first-round playoff bye
- 2nd place team receives a first-round playoff bye
- 3rd place team playing the 6th place team
- 4th place team playing the 5th place team
- 1st place team plays TBD based on seed
- 2nd place team plays TBD based on seed
- The two winning playoff semifinal teams will play in the Finals.
- Playoff games that end in a tie after 20 minutes will move to alternating penalty shots by each team. The first team to score wins, as long as the other team has been given an equal chance to score (if your team has taken a penalty shot and missed and the other team follows and scores on their penalty shot, the game is over).
- The same player cannot keep taking the penalty shot
|
- Lob Rule: The Over-30 League allows for the use of lobbing as a strategic play. However, if a player lobs (or shoots) the ball up and it hits the ceiling or any the supporting
- I-beams anywhere on the rink, this will result in a “Delay of Game” penalty and penalty shot.
- When a ball is lobed and hits a light fixture or either of the hanging wires over the center of the rink, the ball contact with those items will result in a faceoff at center rink.
- Grabbing the Ball: This is allowed anywhere on the rink in ANY ZONE ON THE RINK. However, players must immediately drop the ball on the rink and continue with a hockey play. Players cannot hold the ball and run with it or toss it to another teammate.
- Any violations from a defensive player in the defensive zone will result in a whistle and the ensuing faceoff will take place deep in the defensive zone faceoff dots.
- Any violations from an offensive player will result in a whistle and the ensuing faceoff will be high outside the offensive zone (but not deep in their defensive zone).
- Any player (except the goaltender) who picks up the ball from the floor, while play is in progress, the play will be blown dead, and a faceoff will go deep into that team’s defensive zone.
- If a player of the defending team (except the goaltender) picks up the ball from the floor while it is in their team’s goaltenders’ crease, the play shall be stopped, and a Penalty Shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team.
- High Sticking: Players are not allowed to “call for pass” by waiving their stick above their shoulders. A referee can call for an immediate penalty (and penalty shot) even without direct contact with another player. Players are responsible for their sticks at all times (including contact from another player’s stick).
- Offsides: The Over-30 League does not use a floating blue line or the icing lines for offsides. Offsides is denoted by the center rink blue line.
- Hand Pass: Players can handpass the ball to another teammate within THEIR OWN DEFENSIVE ZONE without a penalty being called. Handpasses are not permitted in the offensive zone. All offensive handpasses will be blown dead and the ensuing faceoff will be outside the offensive zone.
- A completed Hand Pass is one where the second player touching the ball, after the Hand Pass, gains possession of the ball. The ball touching the player, stick or any part on the player’s equipment is NOT deemed possession.
- Faceoff Designation (Icing Calls): In the event of an icing call, the team on offense has the option to designate which faceoff circle they chose to use on the draw. The centerman for the offensive team can request their preferred dot prior to the two teams lining up.
- Faceoff Violations: The Referee’s now have the discretion to toss players out of the faceoff circle for faceoff violations. Another player from the floor (only) can be used to take the draw. Referees are also watching for “jumpers and movers” during the draw.
|
Faceoff violations include:
- Centerman jumping too early on the draw
- Centerman waived out of the circle
- The replacement centerman commits similar infractions
- Players outside of the circle jumping offsides
- Players moving laterally (closer to or away from) the faceoff dot
All the above violations are prior to the ball dropping and will result in a whistle blowing the play dead and the centerman will be replaced. A second violation of any kind by the same team during the same face-off shall result in a penalty (and penalty shot) being assessed against the player committing the second violation.
Players without an “C” or “A” are not allowed to debate infractions with the Referee. Players who continue to debate (after being warned) could face an additional penalty and penalty shot at the Referees discretion.
- Delayed Offsides: Any ball shot in the offensive zone on the opposing teams net during a “Delayed Offsides”, the Referees will allow the play to continue, and to allow all the offending offsides attackers (including changes from the bench) to completely clear the zone (aka tag-up) before continuing to pursue play in the offensive zone.
The Referees will only stop the play and blow the whistle (if) an attacker fails to clear the zone (including bench changes) and continues their attack while making intentional contact with the ball. The resulting faceoff will be deep in their own defensive zone.
However, if the attacking offsides player makes “inadvertent contact” with the ball by either being hit with a clearing attempt and/or an errant shot/pass (by either team), the resulting faceoff will NOT be deep in their own defensive zone. The faceoff will be just outside the offensive zone.
Jamboree committee will include Kellie and Bill
